Hearts of Palm Basil Dip

Hearts of palm has a flavor resembling the artichoke. This recipe can be made with artichokes instead. Hearts of palm are low in fat, high in protein, contain 17 different amino acids and are loaded with minerals. (iron, potassium, copper, zinc, and phosphorous)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup raw almonds or mixture of walnuts, pecans and almonds

  • 3 garlic cloves

  • 1 cup of hearts of palm

  • 1/2 cup packed fresh basil

  • 1/4 cup nutritional yeast

  • juice of a lemon

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • piquante sauce or cayenne can be added for a spicy version (optional)

Here’s How:

  1. In a food processor, start by blending the almonds and garlic, then add the next 3 ingredients and then the lemon and olive oil.

  2. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. Feel free to add a hot pepper sauce of your choice. (optional)
