Sweet and Spicy Mixed Nuts
These make great holiday gifts wrapped in wax paper and plastic bags with a little ribbon!
Yield: 2 cups
Ingredients:
1/2 cup each of walnuts, pecans, cashews and almonds
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/8 tsp cumin
1/8 tsp red pepper
1 egg white
1/8 cup of either coconut sugar, allulose, xylitol (tastes just like sugar but low on glycemic index) or monk fruit (can also use organic sugar)
Here's How:
Preheat oven to 350.
Place nuts and spices in a bowl and stir.
Whisk egg white until frothy and pour over nut mixture. Coat well.
Bake on prepared cookie sheet or parchment paper and bake for 10 minutes at 350. Cool 1 nut and check for crispness, and if needed lower oven temperature to 325 for another 7 or so minutes.
Cool and store in airtight container.
These nuts are a tasty treat, lovely served with dark chocolates or pack them up in wax paper, then a ziplock bag with a ribbon and gift them for the holidays.
