Elderberry Syrup

This syrup is a great immune system builder. It is a great source of antioxidants and can prevent heart disease and cancer.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh, frozen or dried elderberries

  • 1 T fresh grated or 1-2 tsp dried ginger

  • 1 cinnamon stick or 1-2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 2 cloves or 1/2 tsp ground cloves

  • 1/2 cup raw organic local honey

  • 3 cups filtered water

Here’s How:

  1. Pour water into a saucepan.

  2. Add all ingredients except honey, bring to boil and then simmer for 30-45 minutes.

  3. Remove from heat and when it cooks to warm, add honey and mix.

  4. When it cools to warm, add sweetener.

  5. Optional: Add 1/3 volume of vodka to preserve.

Adults can take 1 T daily for immune system. If feeling ill, increase to 3 X per day.

Children can ingest without vodka added. Dosage of 1/2-1 tsp for kids up to 12 years of age.
