Elderberry Fire Cider

Fire Brew, also known as Fire Cider, is a delicious old folk remedy and health tonic. This savory liquid infusion has so many health benefits. It is packed with vitamin rich vegetables, fruit and spices to energize, protect and boost your immune system. Elderberries offer additional anti-inflammatory properties. Take 1 T daily for overall health and wellness or 2-3 times daily for recovery purposes. You can drink it straight or add it to a favorite beverage such as tea or sparkling water.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups grated fresh horseradish

  • 1 1/2 cups grated ginger root

  • 1 cup chopped onion

  • 1 head of garlic peeled and chopped

  • 1-2 fresh or dried jalapeno pepper, seeded and chopped

  • 1 tsp dried turmeric

  • 1 lemon, cut into 2” chunks

  • 1/2 cup dried elderberries or 1 cup fresh elderberries

  • 1-1 1/2 cups apple cider vinegar

  • 1/2-3/4 cup raw honey (optional)

Here’s How:

  1. Use a food processor and with the grater attachment, grate the horseradish and ginger root and place in a gallon glass jar.

  2. Add remaining ingredients except apple cider and mix well.

  3. Cover with the apple cider vinegar and cover the top of the jar with a breathable piece of cloth or paper towel, securing it with a rubber band.

  4. Stir daily and let it sit in a dark cool place for 4-8 weeks.

  5. Strain liquid and store in a glass jar of your choice.

  6. Store covered in a cool dark cabinet for up to a year.
